Venue Description

The Third Order is the first temple in the city built upon the arrival of the Franciscans in the 17th century. Its architecture is simple, with a single bell tower and no dome, supported by thick and projecting buttresses, without a tower; In 1713 its original façade was renovated and a belfry was installed to serve as a bell tower.
Currently, it's home to a historic 1875 pipe organ. The organ was relocated from Massachusetts to San Miguel in the fall of 2023. This lovely instrument of 8 stops, one manual and a 27 note pedalboard will be used in concerts sponsored by Chorale San Miguel, as well as in San Miguel's Organ Festival. The organ is also used in the Third Order Chapel's own religious observances and for other community events held in the Temple.
